Whole grilled fish with pepper sauce is a bold, flavorful Nigerian dish featuring a whole fish seasoned, grilled over open heat, and topped or served with a fiery pepper sauce. It’s especially popular at outdoor bars, beach spots, and evening gatherings across Nigeria.

- Clean the fish thoroughly and make diagonal slits on both sides to help it cook evenly and absorb the
- seasoning
- Season with salt and 2 seasoning cubes let it marinate for about 30 minutes.
- In a blender, combine the bell peppers, scotch bonnet, onions and blend coarsely. You can adjust the
- number of peppers based on your desired spice level.
- In a pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Pour in the blended pepper mixture. Cook for about
- 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the oil starts to separate.
- Stir in seasoning cubes and salt to taste. Let it simmer for another 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set
- aside.
- Place the fish on a prepared oven tray. Bake for 20 - 30 minutes. Pour the pepper sauce over the fish or
- serve it on the side.
- Best served with fried yam
